However, due to the COVID-19 lockdown regulations, the computer labs cannot be guaranteed to be available to students throughout the year. Therefore, it is <strong>highly recommended<\/strong> that each student has a computer at their place of residence that can run demanding software used in the Multimedia degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>estimated cost <\/strong>for a desktop PC that matches these specifications is <strong>R 20,500<\/strong> and will last you for <strong>3 years<\/strong> of your studies. Laptop prices that match these specifications will be higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some recommended stores at which you can purchase these components are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.evetech.co.za\/\">Evetech.co.za<\/a> (based in Centurion and online)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.takealot.com\/\">Takealot.com<\/a> (online store)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.titan-ice.co.za\/\">Titan-ice.co.za<\/a> (based in Pretoria East and online)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wootware.co.za\/\">Wootware.co.za<\/a> (based in Somerset West and online)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following is a list of items\/software that is required to do multimedia related assessments, but the above-mentioned estimated price <strong>excludes<\/strong> these:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Windows operating system,<\/li><li>any software (used in the Multimedia degree)<\/li><li>Standard mouse and keyboard<\/li><li>Monitor (full HD 1080p display)<ul><li>Make sure the monitor\u2019s connection matches the ports on the Graphics card<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Standard audio devices (earphones\/headphones\/speakers)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following list of components is <strong>purely for guidance<\/strong> and any desktop or laptop with similar performance\/specifications should also last for the 3 years of your studies. It is not necessary to have a new PC that matches the specifications.
