Main idea: This is a representation of me because it captures my tendency to get lost in my daydreams and how I see the world differently. The wings represent the freedom I feel when I get lost in my own imagination. I am inspired by authors and artists who create fantasy worlds like this, which fuels my own creativity.
Noah Dollenberg
Main idea: I aspire to become a filmmaker and director, much like Christopher Nolan. Filmmaking is all that I do and all I want to do in the future and his films have inspired me to embrace creativity and seize every opportunity to achieve this dream. We share a similar mindset and approach, as he also didn’t study film but used his degree as a backup plan and a tool to pursue his filmmaking goals.

Main idea: The cloaked figure represents my introverted nature, gazing into a fantasy world that reflects my passion for art mythology and storytelling. The portal signifies my curiosity and tendency to daydream, always seeking ways to escape and discover new ideas. The incorporation of elements such as, dragons, runes, paintings etc. Ties into my love for creativity, fantasy and art.

The main idea was to create a composition that captures my personality and interests in a quirky way. I enjoy writing and reading a lot, which is shown with the pen and books. Photography is a part of who a am as well, specifically macro photography (this is why there is a camera and a miniature scene). I have a fun, yet strange way of thinking about things, so I made the character intentionally look strange.

The main idea behind my work is being artistic. I made the image of myself and the wings black and white in contrast with the background that is more colourful to represent my idealistic nature. I am also love reading and giving the books the quality of flying is how I feel when I am reading. The words come to life; I see and feel what I read.

The main idea is to express my love for Japanese culture and use of anime as an escape, as well as my love for music. I am situated in a Japanese environment which symbolizes my fascination with the culture. The shrine is a gate to a fantasy world where Pokémon are escaping from – referring to my means of using anime to escape reality. I have headphones on and a keyboard next to me which symbolizes my love for music production.

My self-portrait describes my dreams, imagination, and my love for mystery and fantasy stories. It is uniquely mine because it shows how my mind, and my imagination works. It includes my favourite animal (rabbits), the castle which represents my love for fantasy (particularly one book, The Priory of the Orange Tree, which takes place for the most part inside a castle), and mushrooms which represent the forest, the one place most soothing to me where I go to find inspiration for my stories, daydreams, and drawings. The figures in the sky represent how my dreams are often bizarre and abstract, and often feature some sort of ghost/spirit or mythical being, even though I am not religious (they also represent my mindset while daydreaming – completely happy in my own world).

The main concept is that I am a creator of things who loves making art in various forms and putting it out into the world, even if it’s only for my own satisfaction. My self-portrait is a representation of how I add my own creations to the endless expanse of content and art that exists in the world, which is shown by the small river of my creations in the vast ocean and of other forms of art. The Items in the river are representative of the art forms that I usually partake in (music, digital art, etc). Usually, I don’t feel the need to advertise or deliberately bring attention to the things I make, so in the portrait, I’m simply sitting quietly, creating away.
